I’m Christie Mulligan. My background includes an anticipated Doctoral Degree in School Psychology (May 2025) from Saint John’s University and a Master’s Degree in Applied Education and School Psychology at Columbia University. I also have completed a Master’s Degree in Special Education at Dowling College.
I’m a certified School Psychologist in New York, but I completed my training in California to enhance my skills in assessment techniques and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Since 2018, I have been working as a School Psychologist, focusing on supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Depression, and Anxiety. My role involves conducting comprehensive assessments, developing tailored intervention plans, and collaborating with educators and families to foster a supportive learning environment.
I am deeply committed to promoting the well-being and academic success of my students, utilizing a strengths-based approach that recognizes each child’s unique abilities and challenges. My passion for this field drives me to continuously expand my knowledge and skills, ensuring that I provide the highest quality support to the children and families I serve.
A few things about me
I’m a proud parent of two daughters, and my family is at the heart of everything I do. Coming from a big family myself, I understand the value of connection and support, which I bring into my work with clients. In my downtime, you’ll often find me enjoying the simple pleasures of life—whether it’s cooking with my toddler, going to concerts, or spending time outdoors. I love being in nature, taking walks, and unwinding with good music or a thought-provoking podcast.
Spending time with friends and family is also a big part of who I am, as it helps me stay grounded and energized. These experiences fuel my passion for building strong, meaningful relationships, both in my personal life and in my work as a therapist.

My Therapeutic Style
My therapeutic approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, with a strong focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. I believe in empowering my clients by helping them identify patterns of thought and behavior that may be holding them back, and working collaboratively to set and achieve meaningful goals.
I place great importance on building a strong therapeutic rapport, as I believe that a trusting, empathetic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change. My role is to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts and emotions.
As a parent myself, I also bring an understanding of the challenges and rewards that come with parenting. This personal experience helps me to relate to the stresses and complexities of family dynamics, which I integrate into my work when relevant.
Together, these elements allow me to tailor my approach to the unique needs of each client, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented process.
